District Exhibits

Celebrating Agriculture’s place in Australia—the District Exhibits Competition brings the cropping and horticulture sections of NSW agricultural production to the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

In 1876, Show Societies from around the state were asked to mount displays of their produce, and the first District Exhibits display was staged. In 1911, the spirit of competition was alive and well and the Perpetual Shield, the oldest trophy in continuous Sydney Royal Easter Show competitions use, was first presented.

In 1950, five permanent Districts were finalised, representing the Central, Northern, Southern and Western regions of NSW along with South East Queensland. From 2025, the District Exhibits will be comprised of four Courts: Central, Northern, Southern and Western. Each District is referred to as a Court and is made up of community volunteers.

The District Exhibits Produce Competition is judged over six days prior to the opening of the Show with over fifty judges involved in the judging process. The Display Competition is judged on opening day.

Each display in the iconic Sydney Royal Easter Show competition consists of more than 10,000 pieces of fresh produce, representing the best-of-the-best of the State’s produce and brings Showgoers back year after year.
