Awarded For: Awarded to the Supreme Exhibit in Ring 1.

Donated By: Donated by the Cat Fanciers Association of NSW in memory of its Foundation President, Mr EJ Lonsdale, who was also one of the prime movers in the formation of the RASCC and its first Chairman. Dr Jim Watts Perpetual Trophy

Dr Jim Watts Perpetual Trophy

Silver plated bronze sculpture of two alpacas mounted on wooden plinth. First awarded in 2022 in memory of veterinary scientist Dr Jim Watts (1950-2019). Dr Watts was a visionary CSIRO wool scientist who led the world in scientifically defining the parameters of length and density which determine productivity and value in fleece. The science was applied initially to Merino sheep and introduced in the 1990s to the nascent alpaca industry. His legacy continues to lead decision-making in the selective breeding of alpacas based on skin and fleece traits, focussing on maximising both the quality and quantity of Australian alpaca fleece. Dr Watts was also known for his promotion of the ethical treatment of animals and sustainable farming practices.

Awarded For: Highest Scoring Alpaca Fleece

Heather Gibson Perpetual Trophy

Heather Gibson Perpetual Trophy

Small, silver cup by Georg Jensen, mounted on a varnished wooden plinth. Heather Gibson first visited the Royal Easter Show as a young girl in the 1930s, and as a vet student she worked as a groom in the Cattle Section in the 1940s. When her husband, Andrew Gibson, joined the RAS Council in 1984, Heather began her long association with Arts and Crafts. She worked as a Steward for the Arts and Crafts Section, even after Andrew's death, and was always fascinated to learn about various crafts from the Judges. Heather valued the friendships she made with other Stewards and the RAS staff, and always helped pack cakes and scones that had not won for donation to charities.

Awarded For: Awarded to the Most Successful Exhibitor in Non-Perishable Cooking.

Donated By: Donated by the Gibson Family in memory of Heather Gibson and first presented in 2012.
