Rodeo & Campdraft
The Wrangler Federation Rodeo Challenge
The RAS is affiliated with The Australian Professional Rodeo Association, with the Rodeo Competition being run in accordance with the National Governing body.
Rodeo events were first held at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 1931, and today competitions are comprised of Bull Ride, Bareback, Saddle Bronc, and for 2025, we welcome the return of Women’s Barrell Racing!
The World Championship Campdraft Competition
First introduced in 1934, the Campdraft Competition is run in accordance with The Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft & Rodeo Association. Competitors will nominate and be invited to compete by the RAS, with quality stock generously supplied by Ellerston Pastoral Company.
Held under the bright lights of the Sydney Showground Main Arena, the cheers from the crowd spur riders on as they cut their steer from the camp and skilfully manoeuvr horse and steer around the markers, through to the finishing gate, demonstrating a true connection between horse and rider.
The winner of the highest aggregate cut out score winning the Tyrells Perpetual Trophy, donated by Tyrells Wines Pty Ltd.
