The Ringmaster oversights everything that goes on in the main show ring and has the invaluable greencoats and trophy presenter to help him make it all happen – safely and usually on time. Peter Spackman started working with the RAS in the 1980s working on the door of the Members’ Stand and later Council Stand during the Royal Easter Show, before becoming responsible for trophy presentations in the main arena. Here he talks about the dedication required from everyone involved with the Show to make it all happen (edited extract from an interview with Vicki Hastrich in 2013).
