Hugh Gent
Since the early days of the Royal Easter Show the coming together of remarkable people from all walks of life and from all parts of the country has made the Show into the remarkable institution it has become. Born in Nottinghamshire, England, Hugh Gent came to Australia with his wife as a £10 Pom and started stewarding at the Sydney Royal Dog Show in 1975. Becoming President of the Australian National Kennel Council he was an enthusiastic Labrador breeder, exhibitor and judge and recalls the atmosphere of the dog showing world (edited extract from an interview with Vicki Hastrich in 2017).
