World Championship Single handed Sawing Title - Woodchopping & Sawing
Woodchopping was first staged at the Royal EasterShow in 1899, in a paddock which doubled as a cow-judging ring. Four heats were held in the morning and the final was held in the afternoon.
By 1938 an official woodchopping ring was constructed and axes (handles and blades) were standardised. With standardisation, competitors also risked disqualification for unruly behaviour.
More information on the history of the Woodchopping Competition can be found here.
