After actively participating in the Royal Easter Show for more than 65 years, Pat Birchall was awarded the annual Show Legend Award in 2013 in a surprise ceremony. The award recognised his outstanding dedication and service exhibiting, stewarding and judging poultry. Pat first took part in the Easter Show in 1947 when he travelled from Mudgee to show off his birds. Since then, he has won over 1800 awards at the Show, including more than 470 major and champion awards.
