Suttor Stand
The Suttor Stand at Sydney Showground gives all those who take a seat an incredible view of the bikes and precision driving as well as the evening fireworks during the Sydney Royal Easter Show. In the AFL season, it is a prime location allocated to GWS Giants Silver Sydney members, and Sydney Thunder supporters are right by the Thunder Dome when they sit in the Suttor Stand.
Sir Francis Suttor would quite appreciate the access to brilliant vantage points for viewing entertainment in the stand bearing his name. Amongst his main reforms, as President of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW from 1907-1915, was a desire for the Society to be representative of all members rather than an elite few. Sir Francis was a great pastoralist and pioneer, and one of the colony’s most distinguished public men. He was a politician of wide experience and was an active President of the Legislative Council and RAS President when he died at the age of 75 – his death coming days after presiding over the official opening of the 1915 Sydney Royal Show.
