Jenko Pavilion

Jenko Pavilion
It is so uniquely and appropriately Australian that a pavilion named after a beloved horse official would carry his name - shortened but with an ‘o’ thrown on the end… and thus the Jenko Horse Pavilion is named for Fred Jenkins, known to all as ‘Jenko’.
Jenko was a horse official at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, back in the Moore Park days. He had a particular interest in the ‘show riders of the future’ and did all he could to encourage young riders to keep going with the sport. He spent his own money on trophies for horsemanship for these riders, believing ‘the traditions of Australian horsemanship are in their keeping’.
Today he is honoured by the pavilion bearing his name, and the Jenko Perpetual Cup – a trophy presented to the first prize winning Zone Pony Club Team of four riders under 13 years of age.
