Charley Restaurant

Providing panoramic views over the Main Arena to be enjoyed with Sydney Royal award-winning produce, Charley Restaurant is the dining room for RAS Members and their guests.

Sir Philip Charley was elected to the RAS Council in 1938 and became RAS President in 1965, retiring in 1969. He travelled extensively during his term, opening country shows and judging competitions whenever he had the opportunity, believing the relationship between the RAS and country agricultural associations was a vital one. A dairy farmer in Windsor amongst other things, Sir Philip supplied milk to the RAAF base at Richmond and was deputy-president of a war agriculture committee during World War II. Sir Philip’s father was from Victoria, his mother was a South Australian, but his legacy lives on at Sydney Showground with the restaurant named in his honour.
